Week One Wrap-up: SDC Worlds, New Drivers, and What's Live on RC Drift Empire

Even though we've been open for less than a week, we have drivers signing up and I couldn't be happier. Here is our week one recap covering SDC Worlds 2026 and a tour of everything live on the site.

Even though we've been open for less than a week, we have drivers signing up from tracks across the country and I couldn't be happier. I want to thank everyone for checking out the website and providing feedback. Building a dedicated platform for the RC drift community has been a massive labor of love, and seeing real drivers claim their numbers, add their chassis, and hang out in The Pit has made all the work worthwhile.

Here is our full week-one wrapup, including highlights and pit stories from SDC Worlds 2026, plus a complete tour of everything live on RC Drift Empire today.

SDC Worlds 2026: Qualifying, Tandem Drama, and Pit Stories

Last weekend, all eyes in the RC drift world were on Super-G R/C Drift Arena in Baldwin Park, California for the Super Drift Championship (SDC) Worlds 2026. The energy inside the arena was electric from Thursday practice straight through to Sunday finals.

The course layout this year was tight, technical, and brutally unforgiving. Drivers had to carry immense wheel speed into the high-grip P-tile surface while making instant, millimeter-close angle transitions along the outer clipping zones. One fraction of an inch too deep meant brushing the wall and scrubbing speed; one inch too shallow meant giving up line points.

The U.S. Championship Battle of Champions

The U.S. Championship brought together qualifiers from regions all over North America, and every single tandem battle looked like a main event final:

  • 1st Place — Jake Dotter: Jake drove with ice-cold precision all weekend. His lead runs laid down textbook lines with maximum angle right on the outer clips, and his chase runs stayed glued to doors without a single hesitation.
  • 2nd Place — Jeff Light: Jeff was relentless, putting on masterclass chase runs with insane throttle snap and zero angle stall on transitions.
  • 3rd Place — Matt Welch: Matt fought through a brutal bracket gauntlet, showing textbook smoothness and car control to land on the national podium.

Legendary matchups highlighted the weekend—including the epic battle between Jake Dotter and Alfredo Carrasco, where both drivers ran bumper-to-bumper with zero daylight between their shells. The international drivers also showed incredible consistency, adapting to the California layout in record time.

The Real Highlight: Pit Camaraderie

While the trophy ceremonies and championship brackets get the headlines, the real story of SDC Worlds was what happened between rounds in the pits. You had competitors lending each other carbon shock towers, helping rivals dial in Ackerman angles, and sharing gyro gain tricks on the fly. That generosity and shared passion is what makes RC drifting special, and it's the exact culture we are building this platform to serve.

What's Live on RC Drift Empire: The Platform Tour

If you're one of the many drivers who signed up this week—or if you're thinking about creating an account—here is a quick overview of what you can do on RC Drift Empire today:

1. Driver Profiles & Digital Pit Cards

Your driver profile is your digital drift license. Pick your racer number, add your social links, showcase your team affiliations, and generate your Digital Pit Card. Save the Pit Card to your phone's photo roll or print it out—other drivers at your track can scan the QR code to pull up your garage and specs instantly.

2. Virtual Garage & Tuning Setups

Log all your drift chassis (YD-2, SD2.0, RDX, MST, Shark, Sakura, and more). Record your brushless motor kV, ESC timing, gyro settings, servo horns, and tire compounds. Build detailed setup sheets for different surfaces (polished concrete, P-tile, or carpet) and share baselines with friends.

3. Interactive Tracks Directory & Map

Looking for a place to slide? Our Tracks directory lets you find indoor and outdoor venues near you or plan your next road trip. Filter by surface type (P-Tile, Carpet, Concrete), check track rules and opening hours, and see which drivers call that track their home turf.

4. Free Competition Tools & The Pit Board

Tracks and crews can organize judged competitions completely free. Drivers check in from their phones via QR code, judges enter scores on mobile tablets, and the live bracket updates on The Pit Board—a broadcast-ready display for venue TVs or livestreams.

5. The Pit Community Forum

The Pit is our dedicated community Q&A board. Whether you are dealing with front-wheel shudder at full lock, looking for differential oil recommendations, or announcing a weekend meetup, post your questions and get solid advice from drivers who know their stuff.

6. Likes Everywhere

As announced earlier today, our new Like feature is live! You can now tap the heart on profiles, garages, tracks, events, and news to show appreciation for fellow drifters.

Thank You Again

To everyone who signed up, shared a setup, left a comment, or gave feedback during our first seven days: thank you. We're tuning and improving things daily based on what you tell us.

If you haven't set up your profile yet, head over to Join Free, grab your racer number, and welcome to the Empire!
