WHAT MAKES YOU CHOOSE ONE COMPETITION OVER ANOTHER? π€π
With RC drifting continuing to grow and more competitions popping up across the country, weβre curious about what REALLY influences a driverβs decision to attend an event.
Whether youβre a seasoned competition driver, a weekend warrior, or someone just getting into the competitive side of RC drifting, what makes an event worth your time, money, and travel?
ποΈ Letβs talk about some of the deciding factors:
π LOCATION & TRAVEL β Is proximity everything? Are you more likely to attend something within an hour or two, or would you happily make a 4β8 hour road trip for the right competition?
π° ENTRY FEES β Does the cost of registration influence your decision? Would you pay more for a bigger or better-organized event?
π PRIZES & PAYOUTS β Do trophies, cash prizes, sponsored products, giveaways, and raffles make an event more attractive? Or are bragging rights and competition enough?
π₯ DRIVER COUNT β Would you rather compete against 15β20 drivers or attend a massive event with 50+ competitors? Does a larger field make an event more exciting or less appealing?
β EVENT REPUTATION & POPULARITY β Does the reputation of the hosting track or event matter? Are you more likely to attend when well-known or highly skilled drivers are competing?
π TRACK SURFACE & LAYOUT β How much does the actual track influence your decision? Polished concrete, P-tile, J-tile, carpet, or another surface? Do you prefer familiar surfaces or enjoy the challenge of adapting to something completely different?
βοΈ COMPETITION FORMAT & JUDGING β Does the format matter? Single elimination, double elimination, qualifying structure, judging consistency, OMT opportunities, or the overall fairness and transparency of the competition?
π€ ATMOSPHERE & COMMUNITY β Are you going strictly to compete, or is hanging out with friends, meeting new drivers, and enjoying the overall atmosphere just as important?
π SCHEDULING & EVENT LENGTH β Does a one-day competition appeal to you more than a full weekend event? How important are practice time, start times, and keeping the event running on schedule?
π₯ MEDIA & EXPOSURE β Do professional photos, video coverage, livestreams, social media exposure, and driver recognition add value to an event?
π§ FACILITIES & AMENITIES β How important are pit space, power availability, seating, climate control, food, parking, and nearby accommodations?
π PRACTICE & TRACK TIME β Would you choose an event offering several hours of open practice over one where you get limited track time before qualifying?
π₯ THE BIG QUESTION: π₯
If two competitions were happening on the same weekend, what would ultimately make you choose one over the other?
Would you drive 6 hours for a well-known event with 50 drivers and great prizes, or stay local for a smaller competition with a great atmosphere and more track time?
Weβre genuinely interested in hearing what the RC drifting community values most. Not just from the drivers who compete regularly, but also from those who have considered competing and havenβt pulled the trigger yet.
