HPI Stage-D10 Flux — My Current Setup & Modifications! 🤘🔥
What’s up everyone! Fairly new to RC drifting and recently picked up my HPI Stage-D10 Flux. I’ve been having an absolute blast learning how to drift and slowly dialing in the chassis!
I’ve been practicing at home and taking it out to The Hobby Gym here in Bakersfield, CA, which runs P-tile.
My first track session was definitely a learning experience. I was struggling with understeer, initiating drifts, and linking corners. After doing some research and making a handful of adjustments, the difference has been HUGE!
Here’s everything I’ve changed so far:
Steering & Suspension:
* Added 2mm spacers underneath the steering rack ball studs to adjust Ackermann geometry. * Adjusted the steering turnbuckles to a 12.5mm gap. * Moved two caster spacers toward the rear. * Replaced the factory servo saver with the included solid servo horn, using the middle mounting hole. * Electronically centered the servo before installing the horn and checked for binding and even steering travel.
Gyro & Electronics:
* Adjusted the PCA, AGS, and gyro settings directly on the factory chassis-mounted gyro. * Still running the stock HPI servo, gyro, motor, and transmitter. * Adjusted ESC punch from 6 to 5. * Increased maximum braking force from 75% to 100%.
Wheels & Tires:
* Running dedicated P-tile drift tires at the track. * Using the factory HPI tires for practice at home.
How it’s driving now:
The difference has honestly been NIGHT AND DAY! The steering feels significantly more responsive, the chassis rotates into drifts much more naturally, and the gyro adjustments made a massive difference in how smooth and predictable the car feels.
During my most recent track session, I was actually starting to link the ENTIRE track! 🥲🔥
Still have a ton to learn, but I’m genuinely impressed with how capable this chassis is with some relatively simple adjustments.

That is awesome. My son just bought a HPI D10 this week and I've been wondering about the out of box alignment. and what I should pay attention to. Thank you for the tips💪
